Wholetone — generative patch from my Jan. 29th livestream

I wanted to toy around with a scale? Key? Whole tone is sort of both. Anyhow, being a fan of DeBussy, I’ve always enjoyed the whole tone scale and its dream-like quality.

I’m not sure if the outcome was as… enthralling as I had hoped. Ideally, I would work in some modulation between some sort of chromatic scale and whole tone, or even a modulation within the scale, but I didn’t have time/CPU (sometimes these are the same thing) to figure out how to do that.

There are two voices: one is a plucky little sawtooth thing, the other is a four-note strum/chord thing using triangles. The strumming itself is a product of chained CV delays, with each tap of a delay triggering the envelope for one of the oscillators in the strum voice. The output of the strum synth is recorded into a looper sometimes and played back at a different speed.

Anyhow — there are -parts- of this patch that I like, but I think just need more work to be made more listenable. So, you may see me play in this sandbox again sometime soon as an attempt to get those right. Or righter. Better.

Also, I restarted my Patreon, since people have asked a lot about that, if you want to support the stuff I do (overly long livestreams, videos of trees, etc.):
