This began and ended as a goofy patch, but I ended up building it out way more than I expected because I was having fun. And I figured, maybe someone needs to live-score a black and white sci-fi flick.
Aliens are approaching! As they near, you can hear their strange alien jazz, emanating from their flying saucer! Occasionally, they send data about soil conditions and human jazz back to their home plant!
Controls:
Footswitches:
Left, momentary: Set the speed of that strange alien jazz. (A combination of granular modules, bandpass filters, and diffusers.)
Middle, latching: Send back soil reports to the home plant! (Random ring mod.)
Right, latching: Fly the spaceship! (Solo the “theremin”-esque-ish sound. A resonating bandpass filter to create a sine with some delay thrown in for eeriness.)
Front panel:
Nothing at all, but I did create a visual representation of the saucer, the alien jazz, and the data sent to the home planet.
Sound clip:
I play the various features, using guitar, and then, to show its dynamic range, I switch to… what’s that? It has virtually zero dynamic range? Oh, okay. Aliens!
