Slow Progress Ambience

This patch is an experiment. The chords from the AH Progress module are played “as-is” by the Gratrix VCO-F1 module. The same chords are routed to the AH Arpeggiator, but the Pattern, Length, and Arpeggio parameters of that module are randomized – actually a constrained randomization using a trio of Charred Desert CV Sequencer modules – to create an unpredictable but balanced effect. The resulting arpeggio is played by the Blamsoft XFX Wave oscillator, the output from which is routed directly to the Mixovnik mixer and to the Vult Freak filter. A quartet of Frozen Wasteland BPM LFOs control the CV inputs of the oscillator and filter. The same LFOs also control the Freak filter used with the Befaco EvenVCO in my bass instrument and with the Audible Instruments Modal Synthesizer. The AI Modal Synth processes a WAV (the bird sounds) looping on an external player connected to the Rack audio interface.

The recorded performance is indeed a performance, i.e. it is not a wholly automated arrangement. I manually controlled only a few parameters of the Progress module and the Mixovnik mixer, but those controls shaped the overall form of the recorded performance.

I’m working on the addition of an electric guitar part, which is why this version is described as an ambience.
