I was inspired by the patch from milescosmo at https://patchstorage.com/roland-jx-8p-clone-using-free-modules/, and decided to see if I could create my own version with free modules that emulates more of the features of the JX-8P synth and PG-800 programmer. I believe I have implemented most everything except for the patch chain.
I’ve added the Stoermelder 8FACE mk2 so you can store your own “tones” or patches. I’ve preprogrammed the first 32 slots to emulate the original factory tones from the first bank of the JX-8P. A few are amazingly close, most are clearly different, but still recognizable, and a couple I really struggled with
There is documentation built into the patch, including a list of known differences. Pair that with the Roland JX-8P documentation (easily found online), and you should be well on your way.
This is the 2nd version of my patch. I changed the envelopes, improved the dynamics computations, and mixed in some sine wave with the saw and square to give the fundamental tone a bit more heft.
