Roland JX-8P and PG-800 Emulator v3

Here is a 3rd version of my JX8P / PG-800 emulator. It is basically the same as version 2 (https://patchstorage.com/roland-jx-8p-and-pg-800-emulator/), except I utilized two new modules from my Venom version 2.3 plugin (https://library.vcvrack.com/Venom) to simplify some of the patch.

I use the new Poly Unison module to greatly simplify the unison and detune management, and the Shaped VCA to simplify creation of the dynamics options that are somewhere between linear and exponential.

I believe I also tweaked some of the factory tone presets to be a bit closer to the actual hardware tones, but nothing earth shattering.

    Hello
Is there a command to change the 32 presets, good job otherwise

Sure, that is what they are there for. But I recommend using slots 33-64 before modifying the 32 “factory” presets.

Dial in the sound that you want, and then simply slide the 8Face switch from R (Read) to W (write) and press one of the slot buttons to save the preset. Then slide back to Read mode

Thanks for the info it works great, question do you play Bansuri flute…

No, I have tried a couple Bansuri flutes, and I was not able to reach the finger holes, even trying a piper’s grip. I generally play fipple flutes like Native American flutes and recorders. I also play the rim blown Anasazi flute, and would love to get a shakuhachi some day. I did get an opportunity to play a decent shakuhachi for a while and really liked it.
