# Orchid Orac Module
An Orac module version of a stand-alone [Orchid-O](https://patchstorage.com/orchid-o/) patch for Organelle.
Orchid is a MIDI chord generator for the Organelle . It is heavily inspired by Tame Impala’s and Telepathic Instruments’ Orchid. It produces chords, bass lines, and arpeggios from a 12-key playfield, with a built-in chord looper that syncs to MIDI clock or runs on its own tempo.
# Overview
– Upper 12 keys – Playfield. Each key is a scale degree or chromatic note. Press a key to play the current chord type rooted there. Notes sound while the key is held; release to stop.
– Lower 12 keys (1–12) — Control surface. Change chord type, extensions, bass, loop.
– AUX — Cycle through pages.
– Knobs — Context-sensitive per page. Knobs use soft-takeover: move past the current value before they engage.
The patch is written in C++, wrapped in an Pure Data patch for Orac, and has been tested on Organelle M.
# Orac Specific Changes
– BPM is not adjustable. It is set by the Orac clock module.
– The looper can be started and stopped by the Orac transport module.
– All MIDI input and output is handled by Orac so the MIDI configuration page has been removed
– Note velocity control has been moved to knob 3 on the main page
– Base note destination is controlled by knob 4 on the performance page. Set a specific Orac module (e.g. “a1”) or use “thru” to send to the next module in the chain.
