Electric Piano (suitcase)

I absolutely love the sound of electric pianos, especially Suitcase and Horner Pianet but also Wurlitzer albeit the first is my favourite. The problem is that these guys sampled can be big in size so I’ve attempted to make one using FM. I was very careful not to end up with DX7 style piano and hope I’ve succeeded.

Work in progress so any contributions are welcome.

The more I listen to it the more it sounds like a Wurly to me. Not a bad thing. :)

V 1.1 (25/04/2020) I’ve just updated the Sustain as it was way too long. I’ve also tweaked shaper settings.

V 2 (28/04/2020) This is close to final version. I’ve modified it so tines get louder as you play softer and blend in when when you play louder (crossfade). I’ve realised it is closer to Hohner Pianet as is and Wurlitzer when shaper put in sat 2 mode.

V 2.1 widened stereo, added a bit of bark

V 2.2 saved as project file. Due to popular demand of course ;)

V 2.3 improved bass response/resonance by adding the resonator module.

Wow, just FM and indeed it sounds quite like a Wurly, great one!

Yes, albeit a bit weak in low register. I wonder what magic can be done to get it closer to Ray’s ‘what’d I say’?

Said and done. Love the Rhodes and Suitcase models 😃
This one took a while. Yesterday I had a few new ideas how to approach it, and thanks to Drambo it ‘just worked’.

BTW, I’ve uploaded the whole project so people (hopefully) don’t have troubles opening it.
