volkov

Volkov is a sound designer and synthesist from Saint Petersburg. He started on borrowed Soviet monosynths in the late nineties and spent years chasing the sound of the Oberheim OB-X and OB-Xa he first heard on records from the early eighties. The two-oscillator, two-envelope, one-filter layout of those instruments has stayed his reference for what a polysynth should be: few controls, each one doing a lot, with a filter that sits somewhere between smooth and unstable.
