Anagramophone (Microloop Scrambler)

Anagramophone is a microloop recorder and scrambler. It features two looper tiers and a probabilistic retrig (stutter) function.

The first looper tier is the main looper that records the microloop and plays it back through four playheads in sequence. Each playhead’s starting position can be randomized globally or per-playhead.

The secondary looper continuously records the first looper and plays back at varying rates – from 1:1 with the beat, to 1:2 (twice per beat) and 1:4 (4x per beat). Playback speed can be switched between 50% and 200%.

The retrig function introduces a probability of the playbacks to retrig (stutter). The default is 12.5% (0.125), but this can be adjusted from the starred list menu.

A master clock dictates the rate (beat) at which the four slices are played. The rate can be adjusted via tap tempo.

CONTROLS

* L stompswitch – tap tempo

* M stompswitch – randomize the start position of all four playheads

* R stompswitch – hold to record loop (2 sec max; keep holding to layer loops)

In the UI, only the blue buttons can be engaged:

* Four upper-mid buttons – Toggle position randomization for each respective playhead

* Lower left button – secondary looper controls
+ Short press: Toggle through second looper modes (off, 1:1 sampling, 1:2 sampling, 1:4 sampling)
+ Long press (>1 sec): Toggle between 50% and 200% playback speed

* Lower right button – Toggle random retrig (stutter)

Starred list:

Retrig – adjust retrig probability (default is 0.125 = 12.5%)
