A four operator FM synth with algorithms based on the Elektron Digitone (I don’t own one so I have no idea if it sounds anything like this). This is mostly a proof of concept and a quick test inspired by the Zoia Bootcamp #5 YouTube session.
Controls are explained in the video, but the basic operations are:
– left stompswitch jumps through the 8 algorithms (see: https://www.perfectcircuit.com/media/wysiwyg/articles/fmwithdigitone/digitone-algorithm.jpg)
– middle stompswitch returns to the first algorithm
– the algorithm shape is shown on the left, colors corresponding the Digitone operators:
– purple: carrier
– red: a
– aqua: b1
– blue: b2
– the blinking operator is the one with feedback
– the similarly coloured buttons on the right are the pitch, feedback and level (VALUE) controls of operators
– the top right row, the white buttons are used for the X and Y output balance (see: Digitone controls)
The second page contains all the ADSR envelopes for each operator
The third page has hall REVERB and final OUTPUT modules.
The rest is …. the rest. The VCAs, the algorithm shape logic and all that jazz.
Note: Gain staging is pretty difficult with so many FM operators. Current connections are quite mild (around 150%) but it’s easy to get into (depending who you ask) nice digital distortion territory. USE caution!
Oh, you need a MIDI device to play it!
