Zaos Pad

An X-Y pad on Zoia with 4 selectable effects, momentary and latching functionality, portamento, and tap tempo.

Note: To simplify directions, I will reference particular Zoia buttons using the page number in parentheses, and the letter or symbol in quotes (i.e. (Page 4) “A”, being upper left button on page 4.) This should make it easier to navigate the patch.

The front page is a field of UI buttons controlling two separate parameters similar to a midi controller’s X-Y pad.

The X axis has 8 increasing values as you move left to right. The Y axis has 5 increasing values as you move from bottom to top.

Footswitches:
Left- Latches the chosen effect to the incoming audio. The purple Performance LED will light when latched (remember to unlatch this in order to make new connections). When unlatched, the buttons function as momentary.

Middle- Cycles through 4 color-coded audio-switch outputs for your FX. Currently Delay (surf), Reverb (mango), Flanger (green), and Tremolo (magenta).

Right- Setup to function as a tap-tempo (pulsing the lower right UI button, which functions normally otherwise). The tap LFO is on the bottom left of (page 2) in red.”5″ is the output.

– – – Portamento – – –
Portamento speed controls are on (page 1) in Pink. Y-axis is “O”. X-axis is “0”. The yellow push-button to the right of each will engage the portamento effect for the respective axis, otherwise value changes will be instantaneous.

– – – Routing Your Own Effects – – –
All required connections are on (page 2) FX Routing.

The Audio-Out switches are on the top of (page 2) in green. There is one for the left and one for the right channel.
Left outs 1-4 are “C-F”.
Right outs 1-4 are “K-N”.
Send these into the front if your effects, and remember to route the effect’s outputs to the Zoias Outputs (page 2, “9” and “0”)

The Axis Pad outputs are in pink.
Y-axis out is “R”.
X-axis out is “Z”.
Connect these to the parameters you wish to control. Consider that the horizontal X-axis has more setpoints than the Y-axis (8vs5), when choosing.

A few notes about these connections for beginners:
-Any parameter you intend to control must be adjusted to its lowest value on the FX module itself (or the lowest value you set as the values “floor”)
-Remember to adjust the connection strength. This allows you to set the value “ceiling”. 100% may not be the “ceiling” you want.

– – – Step values – – –
Step switches are on (page 1).
Y-axis (vertical) values are in blue. X-axis (horizontal) values are in orange. The steps are currently set equidistant from each other, splitting 0 to 1 evenly. They can be adjusted as you wish but will affect all FX accordingly.

– – – Final Notes – – –
The base patch can be used for any effect. The ones included with the patch are just placeholders. Let me know how you make this patch your own.

I hope you enjoy! Please message with any questions. Feedback is welcome!

Cheers!
