X32/M32 Level Meter Example

The X/M series boards by Behringers have perhaps the most comprehensive OSC implementation of any modern soundboards. However, there are a handful of techniques used in the implementation that are tricky, to say the least. Meter data is sent as an OSC blob, so this needs to be unpacked before the individual meter data can be passed to the individual faders. Luckily, this is possible with the Lua scripting in TouchOSC! Additionally, we can do a bit of logarithmic scaling to properly pass the data as decibels. See the script on the meter group for specifics on receiving/processing the OSC blob, and note the small script on the root that handles polling the board (mandatory for the board to send messages back to TouchOSC). Highly recommend Patrick-Gilles Maillot’s site for information and resources about the X32, including an extremely comprehensive OSC reference guide for these boards: https://sites.google.com/site/patrickmaillot/x32
