WaveBank Convolution (Simple Preset Series)

Instructional Preset. This preset sends a Square Wavebank though both Pre and Post Master Section Recirculation (reverb & echos) convolution to let you experiment and hear how convolution can affect the sound (both in terms of timbre and volume). A number of other Wavebank controls are included to allow this preset to be used for production as well as it can create a wide variety of sounds.

Instructions: This preset adds adjustable small frequency pitch offset to four of the 5 Wavebank wave outputs on Y so it can be used effectively with Osmose Aftertouch. To experiment, set your desired full range of convolution in the editor. This defaults to Wood->Metal->Guitar->Waterphone1, but you can choose any of the 9 convolution options placed in any of the 4 convolution positions (Control Panel C2 in the editor). Set your Wavebank options as desired and then set BodyPre value to sets the convolution index for Pre Master Section Recirculatior Convolution to use (which will interpolate if that index falls between two convolution options – as it most likely will) and then set MixPre value (Amont of Pre Master section convolution to apply). Keep the Post settings at minimum to start and then experiment with the Pre settings and different convolutions to get a feel for what each does. Try changing Wavebank to Saw or Triangle to get a different set of timbres (do not use the Le Caine setting as that applies different Wavebank parameters).

After that turn down the Pre settings and experiment with the Post settings in a similar way. You might also try adjusting the Recirculator settings to hear how convolution applies in the Post Recirculator vs. Pre Recirculator output.

Note: You can apply both Pre and Post convolutions if you desire. You might have to turn down gain for some full mix settings.

Macro Controllers:
i = BodyPre (Adjusts the Pre Recirculator convolution index through its full range of 0 ..3). Only values of 0, 1, 2 and 3 will give you the base body type (you can select formula A and while playing a note look at the formula display to see value – after turning on formula display if it is off).

ii = MixPre (Adjusts the amount of Pre Recirculator Convolution applied from none (min setting) to full (max setting).

iii = BodyPost (Adjusts the Post Recirculator convolution index through its full range of 0 ..3). Only values of 0, 1, 2 and 3 will give you the base body type (you can select formula C and while playing a note look at the formula display to see value – after turning on formula display if it is off).

iv = MixPost (Adjusts the amount of Pre Recirculator Convolution applied from none (min setting) to full (max setting).

v = DutyCycle (Adjusts the Wavebank duty cycle from -.5 to +.5).

vi = PitchOffset (Adjusts the range of pitch offset induced by Y). Two separate small pitch offsets are brought in, one set each adding and subtracting to the four additional Wavebank waves added for this purpose (in addition to the fundamental wave that has no offset).

Surface:
X = Pitch
Y = Bring in two sets of Pitch Offsets (max “+/- 5 cents) which will add a lot of motion to the sound due to all the beating that will occur from the slight pitch differences. For Osmose this will come in on Aftertouch. On Continuum it will gradually come in as you move up Y.
Z = Volume. If things are too loud you might adjust W in formula V – or just use your Pre and or Post gain settings in Control panel C2.
