WARNING! THIS MODE CAN CAUSE FEEDBACK WHILE USING THE INTERNAL MICROPHONE AND SPEAKER! PROCEED WITH CAUTION
VU Monitor is a playback mode for the Kaleidoloop that allows the user to monitor incoming signal. The controls are as follows:
Knob 1: Mix between current loop (fully left) and incoming signal (fully right)
Knob 2: Playback speed (-4x to 4x)
This mode also hijacks the mode LED to provide a visual representation of the incoming signal’s level to allow for proper gain staging. Here’s how to read it:
No light/Black: Less than 36 dB
Purple: Between -36 and -30 dB
Blue: Between -30 and -24 dB
Cyan: Between -24 and -16 dB
Green: Between -16 and -10 dB
Yellow: Between -10 and -3 dB
Red: Greater than -3 dB (clipping)
The VU meter in this patch was made by modifying the VU meter used in the Critter & Guitari 5 Moons.
what is a use case for this mode?
thanks!
Its intended purpose is to allow you to monitor sourcess which are directly plugged into the kaleidoloop’s input (electric guitar, bass, synths, aux send from a mixer, etc.). The VU meter is meant to help with gain staging in these scenarios.
