After a longer break I experimented with VCV Rack again. This time I decided to make a drone patch. It should sound like a stairwell. You know, lots of stairs, sounds of shoe soles, with some reverberation because it’s a big staircase. For the shoe heel noises I used the Macro Oscillator and the new module “Palette”, which has been published in the VCV library since a few days. To get more familiar with 8Face, this time I did my sequences with 8Face and Quantovnik. The advantage of 8Face is that you can play the notes stored with Quantovnik in a random order.

Lately I have been looking for an alternative way to fade certain voices down or up with a random trigger. In principle the Mind Meld Mixer has this feature already built in, this time I tried it with a sequential switch, atenuverter (0/1 Signal), slew module and a VCA, as I show in “Stairs Down (Fast)”. It is not the best solution, because I think 4 modules are a bit too many, just to fade in and out randomly. :)
