Truchet Pulse

I wanted to explore an audio-reactive Truchet Tiling algorithm. This is the end result.
◢◤
We have four different types of tiles which include arcs, lines, triangles and a randomized line mode.
◢◤
Knobs control the shape modes, colors, line thickness, and tile sizes.
◢◤
Dynamic color cycling that stops or slows with low audio and increases at louder volume levels as well as tile flips being fully reactive to stereo audio. Tiles on the left are more affected by the left channel and vice versa.
◢◤
Control layout:
🎛️ Knob 1 → Tile size
🎛️ Knob 2 → Line thickness
🎛️ Knob 3 → Shape mode (arcs, lines, triangles, random lines)
🎛️ Knob 4 → Color palette (Dynamic color cycling that stops or slows with low audio)
🎛️ Knob 5 → Background color
◢◤
There’s some good variety of shapes and colors to explore here. It also looks pretty cool with persistence enabled. I confess the random lines tile mode (which draws three random short lines for tiles) doesn’t really work for this purpose but I left it in because I thought it kind of looked cool and vaguely similar to Japanese katakana characters.

* I’d also like to give a shoutout to Patchstorage user dudethedev who has been an inspiration to me in many ways. I didn’t even realize that they had made a very similar mode called T – 10 PRINT about 5 years(!) ago until after I was about halfway done with this one. Consider this an updated and expanded version of that mode. I’d also like to thank the Eyesy ChatGPT LLM for its assistance.
