SPACE NOISES
For some reason I’ve had 2001: A Space Odyssey on the brain so I named this patch after the Monolith, even though it sounds nothing like the soundtrack to the movie.
The audio goes in parallel to four loopers. The record on two of them are triggered by an LFO. Recording on the other two are triggered by the middle stomp switch, and these two also overdub.
Then all four loopers go into two granular modules, which have sequencers changing the speed/pitch to -1,0,+1, and +2 octaves. The granulars are then switched on and off by random LFOs, and then more random LFOs change the volumes of them. Then they go into parallel delay lines with a simple feedback loop set to *almost* self oscillate. These delays are also tied to a tap tempo on the left footswitch, though in the context it doesn’t do much for tempo syncing, but you can use it for some interesting variations.
The result is a sparkly spacey ambient background patch that still lets your dry signal cut through really well. I recorded the demo with no FX after Zoia (Though I had a little tone shaping in front) but I highly recommend this patch into a nice gooey reverb.
The patch works fine without going into performance mode, but you will miss out on some goodies.
Let me know what you think, have fun!
CONTROLS:
Left stompswitch: Tap tempo
Middle stompswitch: Record on two of the loopers. This is set to MOMENTARY, so it’s only recording when you press it down. This also overdubs the loops by the same function.
Right stompswitch: Clears the loopers that the middle switch controls. There is a nice decay on the FX chain so it doesn’t cut off harshly
Button B: FX mix level
Button D: Dry mix level
The granulars are in the Q and 4 row on the first page, and the sequencers are on I and Y rows, if you want to play with those at all.
