My updated Venom Rhythm Explorer pairs beautifully with the new All Electric SmartGrid LameJuis module. LameJuis uses six gate inputs and logic to decide which intervals to stack in order to create interesting melodies. I modified Rhythm Explorer with options for gate outputs instead of triggers to drive LameJuis, and I am loving the result.
The patch uses Host-FX as well as the Dawsome Love VST plugin, both of which cost a nominal fee. You can substitute your favorite effects – simply patch the MIX 4 output to your FX and then to the Audio module.
The patch also uses the free Valhalla SuperMassive VST plugin with the following settings:
Mix = 50%
Width = 100%
Delay = Dotted 1/8
Warp = 21.6%
Feedback = 18%
Density = 0%
Mod Rate = 0.50 Hz
Depth = 50%
EQ High = 20,000 Hz
EQ Low = 10 Hz
Mode = Gemini
The Dawsome Love is using the default “Lovely” factory preset with the following changes (approximate):
Mix = 45%
Shimmer reduced to 30%
Delay reduced to 50%
Chorus enabled at 45%
Phaser enabled at 30%
All other settings unchanged
In the video I pair the patch with a Native American flute improv, performed at the August 7 Virtual Open Mic.
