Studio Box – List

63 Programs designed to be a useful introduction to H90, and a handy bag of tools for any recording session.

Contents are as follows:

1 – Deco Flanger β€” aping a Strymon Deco

2 – Daily Driver β€” mildly saturated overdrive

3 – Edge Lord β€” edge of breakup crunch

4 – Swirling Leslie β€” auto rotary emulation

5 – 80s Jazz Rotary β€” warm warbly rotary sim

6 – Jimmy Page Leslie β€” I used to use this on the solo in Good Times Bad Times, it’s pretty cool with fuzz

7 – Landau β€” Mike Landau style digital delay

8 – Luke β€” Steve Lukather style 80s delay and slapback

9 – The Edge β€” U2 delay

10 – Two Face Fuzz β€” stacked fuzz

11 – 1986 β€” chorus and delay

12 – Plate Reverbs β€” short plate and a long plate. Long is off by default

13 – Voice Box β€” emulation of a talk box tone with delay

14 – Pink Vibes β€” atmospheric vibe

15 – Panned Tremolo β€” a tinkered trem that’s pretty useful

16 – Harmonic Bedroom β€” harmonic trem and room reverb

17 – Dynaflanger β€” nasal honky flanger with verb

18 – Summer’s Drive β€” Andy Summers tones

19 – Lifeson Waves β€” late 70s early 80s Rush modulation. Both presets on gives you the Spirt of Radio thing

20 – Buckley Graceverb β€” that quadraverb parallel reverb thing

21 – Comfortably Gilmour β€” Numb solo delay. Ducked delay off by default

22 – Gilmour Muff β€” it’s not a million miles off a Big Dave Muff

23 – LA2 and Optical Comps β€” studio compressors, one parallel and coloured the other transparent. They work well together, too

24 – Acoustic Strum β€” some EQ, compression and modulation trickery for electric guitar strummers

25 – Binson Echorec β€” drum delay with a light reverb to add reflections

26 – Binson Echorec 2 β€” from an old H9 preset that still sounds very cool

27 – EVH Delay Width β€” 1984 and 5150 tones

28 – Phasers β€” stab at a Small Stone and Maestro phasers

29 – Flangers β€” one subtle, one less so

30 – Choruses β€” Dimension and CE2

31 – Fibonacci Oilcan β€” a classic

32 – Swells and Clouds β€” one for the Praise and Worship crowd

33 – Airport Music β€” Brian Eno stuff. Could also be used in paying homage to the Big Guy

34 – Vangelis Verb β€” not suitable for use in a church

35 – Pads and Crystals β€” safe for use in church

36 – Swirling Clouds β€” also approved for church

37 – Old Tape Delay β€” I’ll let you guess

38 – Echoes in Space β€” kind of Space Echo adjacent

39 – Subtle Echoes β€” two gentle background echoes to give a little depth to your tone

40 – If Shimmer is Your Thing β€” only for church

41 – Fourth Harmony β€” E major and E minor harmonizers

42 – Gm Fifth Harmony β€” will reject your pentatonics

43 – Spring Reverbs β€” two reverbs that may dispel the myth that Eventide’s spring verb is good for nothing

44 – Frippersonics β€” synth Robert Fripp 80s stuff with King Crimson

45 – Frippertronics β€” delay and pitch madness

46 – Mod Filter Funk β€” trying to get H90 to do a 70s filter mod

47 – Ghost Mod β€” atmospheric modulation utilizing the much overlooked Undulator algorithm

48 – Big Hair Guitars – put some metal guitars through this and shred

49 – Walking on the Moon β€” don’t just play a Dm7 and hope it will be ok. The correct chord is a Dm11: x53533

50 – Cornish CC-1 β€” perhaps getting a little niche here, but it’s a great sound. Blend of clean and drive and compression, cuts really well in a mix

51 – Jack White Lead β€” that heavy lower octave fuzz thing.

52 – UniVibe β€” closest I can get to a classic vibe. Using a compressor here to control the top end sheen

53 – Faux Rhodes β€” an approximation of the throb and modulation from a Fender Rhodes. Use a light delay with this to maximize the effect

54 – Airy Nimbus β€” Andy Timmons Halo delay

55 – Headhunter Synth β€” Herbie Hancock style funk synth

56 – Power Synth Solo β€” great for those moments when you want to look as cool as the keyboard player

57 – Hall Reverbs β€” small hall / big hall, using the SP2016 algorithm. Mix is controlled by expression pedal

58 – Cooder Slap Oilcan β€” Ry Cooder’s slap back delay, into a murky oil can style modulated delay

59 – Mr Jangles β€” 12 string emulation

60 – Variatone β€” BB King’s #2 setting for some spank and sparkle, the #3 setting for some bass cut and mid push.

61. Tremriver – rotary and undulator with sympathetic modulation speeds that stop just short of making you feel seasick

62. Dark Echoes – ducked delay being treated with extreme spring coil effects. Not noticeably a spring reverb, more weird dark artifacts on a nice warm delay.

63. War For Drugs – ambient reverb being treated to some undulation for a syrupy throbbing effect, somewhat reminiscent of War on Drugs first album.

I will make the odd update from time to time. Feel free to provide comments on anything that might be missing / could be improved.

I made numerous mistakes copying over Programs to this newly created List – which I’ve now fixed in revision 1.3.

I am having trouble downloading these. If I import them as a list, the whole thing gets imported, but there is no sound from any of the Programs: can anyone suggest what needs to be done?

Apologies it is working, the Bowed Cellos List didn’t work

Many Thanks! So many of these patches are directly usable for normal usage

A few new Programs and some minor improvements.

Quite a major overhaul of the Andy Timmons Halo delay patch after I managed to A/B them again recently.

Hi rustydutch, looks like a very comprehensive piece of work! Are these programs designed to be used with serial routing into the front end of a clean amp?

  • rustydutch on said:

Hopefully there is something for everyone @mikebowyer :)

You ask a good question – I run in front of clean amps.

I also tend to have the effect mix quite low compared to some, so please adjust the Programs accordingly.

Hey I am having difficulty in getting these presets imported. Im all updated to the latest adaptor but whenever I try to import the files, I cant get them in. Could you possibly upload them to patchstorage individually? Thanks!
