Strange Attractors – 01 – Neuron I: Synaptic Transmission

Demo of Stalys Plugin. Requires v1.4.2 or more.

Generative cybernetic patch: Two free-running fast function generators are at the heart of the sound generation. They are phase-opposed to each other, hard-panned left and right and then filtered and delayed.

The heart of the patch is the modulation: the two functions’ outputs are splitted and applied several weight, and fed to the dual neuron module. Then some modulation inputs are applied one of the multiple outputs (neuron and multiplier outputs).

Output sound is summed and shift-registered, then send into two dacs, whose outputs are used to vary the functions pitches.

The scopes show the internals of the patch.

A silly question for all these patches do you need to add a sound source, so far I have got very little out of them. I realise they are on the minimalist side of sound creation.
Thanks for putting them up here though!
Have a good Christmas and better 2021.

Hello, no, they should all oscillate nicely. For the Neuron patches, you can tweak the Dual neuron’s Combiner biases to may them more interesting. Also, you’ll need v1.4.2 of the plugin in VCV (which just reached the Library today :) )

Merry Christmas to you, and a happy and musically productive 2021!
