This patch was loosely inspired by Gorgio Sancristoforo’s Creature From The ID Krellotron Musical Instrument, which in turn was inspired by the pioneering work of Louis and Bebe Barron in the 1950s.

This patch has two channels, one the duplicate of the other. The Binary Noise module produces random pules which are first high pass filtered, rectified to positive and then lowpass filtered to produce an AR waveshape (as they did in days gone by). These pulses are used to amplitude modulate (AM) the VCO output (carrier) rather like a VCA would.

The VCOs cross modulate each other to produce a chaotic ouput from each, with the VCO pitch being randomly changed by a Random module. The straight and pulse modulated signals go to the a cross fader (Xfade) giving you choice of random rhythmic pulsed chaos (A side), or straight chaos (B side).

Final processing is via a delay and two reverbs (one per channel) with each reverb’s mix being controlled by a random output.
