ShotCaller is a utility to dynamically remap a 4×4 software/hardware controller to be able to use more than 16 shots (up to 128).

The default ‘LOCAL’ mode allows you to add up to 16 shots to any pad of a control grid. it pushes notes controlled by the next pads up dynamically to make space, so each pad can have a different number of shots. The shot is then selected by a matching CC control (Pad 1 is controlled by CC#1, Pad 2 with CC#2, etc.)

The Controller starting note (Input; your controllers first note), and the output starting note (Output; the instrument first note) can be changed in the settings, which are access by hitting the shift button. In there you can also change whether you want to use a 4, 8 or 16 pad grid, and whether hitting pads inside Mozaic should by audible for setup (AUDITION or MUTED).

Each Pads ‘Shot’ can be set with a CC# matching its pad number (1 to 16 by default). The first CC used can be changed in the Settings. CC#0 is always used to set the global current step (the step every pad is set to, in GLOBAL mode) so ideally avoid it as a starting CC number.

In ‘GLOBAL’ mode, the output note is ignored. Instead the first pad is automatically set to note 0 in order to maximise the number of shots available across 128 slots. 4 pads give a maximum 32 shots per pad, 8 x 16 and 16 x 8.

The global shot selector (CC#0) sets all pads to the same shot, effectively giving the ability to access entirely different drum kits dynamically without any loading.

CC selections can be played live, automated or p-locked on triggers or sequences (e.g. Prism/Drambo). Trigger/Parameter timing may give unexpected results, I’ve found Prism to be more reliable than Drambo on this front, but if you put an extra trigger holding the parameter before the actual note trigger you should have reliable results.
