RECLOOP

Rev 1.4 The app initializes itself now upon start.

Rev 1.3 Yet another revision, I’m learning how easy it is to save / upload wrong version of the app the hard way. The “resync” pushbutton was not wired correctly and it was not doing its job.

Rev 1.2 – names of the modules updated for clarity.

this is a rev. 1.1 . I accidentally saved the previous patch with the looper 3 speed/pitch not set to 100%. The mistake was in the looper module itself, not on the main control page. My bad, sorry! It was causing a drift. I think now the loopers should not drift (of course when their speed is not altered unequally).

*******

I know… there are many similar loopers already, but none of them worked for my needs so I created this one.

This is a simple 3-track recorder / looper. 3 loopers run in parallel. It should not drift as the rec/stop/overdub triggering mechanism is rigged to all 3 loopers…

INSTRUCTIONS:

Everything is on the main GUI page the patch loads with. No need to go to other pages.
IMPORTANT:  You ***MUST*** initialize the patch after you load it by pressing the RESET ALL –  YELLOW button in the left bottom corner of the main page.
The RED pushbutton on the bottom/right corner is the REC button and track selection button. Press it and HOLD it to record the first loop and set its length. From now on you simply press again the RED button to toggle between 3 tracks, you no longer need to hold it to record. The red pixels on the left indicate which track you are recording to. After you reset everything with YELLOW button, you repeat the process….
The BLUE pushbutton in the bottom row disables recording (no signal getting to the looper). When engaged a blue bar will be displayed across the second-to-last bottom row and the red track indication pixels will change to blue.
The WHITE pushbutton on the bottom row restarts all the loops in sync (this was added to bring the tracks drifting out of sync when their speed is altered back to their  original sync). It can also be used as a stutter effect.

Each track has its independent controls:
1. Reverb Send   –  SURF button.
2. Pan   –  ORANGE button.
3. Gain – YELLOW button.
4. Speed / Pitch – GREEN button. (if engaged, of course the tracks will drift)
5. Mute track – MAGENTA button.

The first pixels to the left of the red/blue track indication show signal coming from the looper.

TIPS:

1.Because the loopers record constantly, use the BLUE mode when practicing overdubs before recording them. In general, keep it in BLUE mode whenever possible because the loopers will keep recording noise from your input to the tracks).
2. Change the parameter display method to “Note” for the Pan, Reverb Send, Gain and Speed/Pitch for the encoder to go through values quicker.
3. Do not access the loopers on the second page directly.  Doing so will make the patch not work correctly – in some cases even after you initialize it with the YELLOW button on the main page, you’ll need to reload the patch entirely (which is due to one of the quirky behaviors of the looper and sequencer modules. Mr. H.M. Jacques calls them “peculiar” –  I think it’s the right word…).
4. Once again: You ***MUST*** initialize the patch after you load it by pressing the RESET ALL –  YELLOW button in the left bottom corner of the main page.

GENERAL NOTES:

It may be tempting to change the bottom row pushbuttons which are momentary to latching ones. But this will not work as the buttons do couple of things at once in a closed sequence. It’d require changes to the routing. You should be however able to replace them with stomp switches, just keep the same type.

I’m not sure about the effects order and general routing, probably not the most efficient and ideal one,  but that should be easy to change.

The quirks of the looper and sequencer modules combined are a headache.

Enjoy.
