Polyflex/Polysteel

Hi all.
I have found an Eventide short clip at its end explaining the use of Pitchflex/Pitchsteel algo to mimic pedal steel sound.
I’ve tried to copy It, but my sound Is not exactly the same.
I am using exp pedal to control both Flex and output volume, but not the same.
Does anybody have an explanation ?
Here Is the link to the video.
Many thx and best.
Roberto

Make sure that you are mapping the expression pedal to the Out Gain in PolyFlex itself (Preset A here). There is an Out Gain for each Preset (A & B) and also one for overall Program Out Gain (P).

Beyond that, I can’t really see the Out Gain in action on the PitchSteel demo. But it sounds to me like he mapped expression for a very slight volume boost.

In other words, Manual Flex A & B cover the full range of the parameter ‘dial’. The Start / End points of the range are reduced for Out Gain control. So from heel to toe, Flex A & B move the maximum amount, and Out Gain moves by a much smaller amount.

Sorry, roberto1957, but I don’t quite understand if you had success or not. It might be easier if I put together what -I- think is happening in that demo clip.

I loaded the PolySteel preset into Preset A. All I did differently was map the expression pedal to Manual Flex A, Manual Flex B, and Out Gain at the Preset level. The slight boost in volume was my best guess, by ear. Beyond that, renamed & saved as a Program.

I also loaded the Spring reverb ‘Deluxe’ into Preset B, as shown later in the video. I saved that half in Bypass, so you can toggle the second effect in & out, as needed.

I recall uploading a somewhat similar program about a year ago, here at PatchStorage. It’s a lot more complex, but I made it easily adjustable. It’s along the same lines of a steel / slide effect, and might be useful to you for exploring a different approach.
