Quadrant 8 Track Tapes

Insert Mode Program – Parallel Routing – Program MIX 50%. Programmed for stereo use.

HeadSpace alongside HeadSpace. 8 ‘tape’ heads, Head Divisions staggered in time, and panned in space. Focus on tape speed, ‘pitch-bending’ effects.

All three HotKnobs are pre-programmed for making fine adjustments to several of the effects. Customize the sound, using these variations:

* [P] HotKnob (+/-) – adjusts both HeadSpace Filters [default = 50]
* [A] HotKnob (+/-) adjust Preset (A) HeadSpace Rec. Drive. [default = 10].
* [B] HotKnob (+/-) adjust Preset (B) HeadSpace Rec. Drive. [default = 10].

EXP1 sweeps both Delay Times from minimum to maximum, all Pan parameters from narrow to wide spread, increases both Wow and Flutter depths, and adds some moderate Feedback to all paths.

Other options include Boil and Breakdown on either HeadSpace instance, and latching down “tape” from Full to Half speed.

See the Program Notes for more information on the PERFORM switch mappings.

    Awesome work on this patch also, man. I dialed down the Mix, adjusted the Feedback and each Pan to personal taste and set each Delay Time to 1500ms. It’s very musical for me for a variety of uses including but limiting to: single note swells, staccato eighth notes, and strumming a variety of different length chords on the gee-tar. Very versatile. This patch is going on my “Master List”!

    And playing with your original settings, the warmth of the degradation of the repeats remind me of riding with my Cousin Eddie that I never had in his 76′ El Camino listening to those 8 tracks on days where the unforgettable nature of the “un”-fidelity of the sounds were golden.

    Not to mention the ‘clunk’ when the 8 track switched over (mid-jam).

    Yeah, I was channeling Bolin’s Echoplex mangling with those extreme settings.

    One thing: I remember a Stompboxes Forum thread detailing obnoxious white noise using HeadSpace (with Tape Hiss at 0.0). I never caught any of that until I started building this Program.

    I’m getting some white noise bleedover whenever I reload this Program. Obviously, it gets masked with extreme tape speed changes. Are you getting any of that there?

    Yes, I am getting what I consider to be quite a bit of white noise (ocean wave roar) through two tube amps set clean in Stereo. I am getting less of the constant (ocean wave roar) white noise but more Hiss with my tamed down version of this PROGRAM with the Delay Mix set at 2.0 rather than 10.0 of yours.
