PTS-5c-beta

**requires 3.0 firmware and I’m calling this a ‘work in progress’ until we’re out of beta**

This is a “pitch-tracked sampler” (PTS) effect. The demo (link below) shows 3 different versions of using the effect with 3 different sample sets. 1) a “strings” sample from Sample From Mars’ ‘360fromMars’ set, 2) the frog outside my window that’s been keeping me awake the past 3 nights, and 3) bird calls!!

Description of controls (all on page 0) follow. If you want to try this patch update your firmware, load up some samples and have a play. I’ll update the patch as necessary depending on what, if anything, changes with the official release..

Have fun!!

Row 1: dry/sampler balance, delay length & delay feedback, sampler 1&2 balance, filter toggle.
** NOTE 1 about the delay… My issue with the pitch detector has always been the lag/slewing that occurs as it’s processing each note. The only way I’ve come up with for getting around this is by delaying the opening of the VCA so that the slewing/lag isn’t heard (for the most part) by inserting a CV delay between the Envelope Follower and the VCA. For my playing, 65+/-ms delay works 90% of the time, but you can still here it catching up with large interval jumps. Play around with longer/shorter times to find what works for you. YMMV.
** NOTE 2 about the delay… One can actually use this as a delay, such that you’d play a note and the PTS output would be your delay. It’s kinda fun, but also kinda squirrely… Depending on the delay length, the delayed pitch-tracked output might change pitch before it’s audible. Regardless, there’s potential here in playing around with delay times..

Row 2: a separate clean signal/delay balance, filter frequency, filter resonance
**about that separate clean/delay balance… I found that adding in a wee bit of the delayed dry signal – this delay time mirrors the delay length of the PTS signal – can help bind the PTS and dry signals. I used this a little bit on the first and third examples of the demo, determined I didn’t need it in the second example.

Row 3: sample 1 & 2 reverse toggle, playback active indicators (L-stompswitch toggles playback on/off) )verb decay, verb mix. I might end up swapping the plate verb for the lite verb, as I did get some “yellow button spiking action” happening at one point.

Row 4/5: the samplers. These are set to “looping playback”. When you start playback with the L-stompswitch, the samplers are always on in the background. Basically treating them like oscillators.
