In this patch, I demonstrate how to create a classic techno ducking (sidechain compression-style) effect in VCV Rack using only free modules. By triggering an inverted envelope from the Bogaudio DADSR(H) module every time the kick hits, we create that signature pumping effect without using a compressor.

Modules used include:

– Clock to sync the patch

– Befaco Pony VCO for the main synth voice

– DocB drums for kick/percussion

– JW-Modules sequencer for rhythm control

– Bogaudio DADSR(H) to shape and invert the envelope
