VCV RACK 1st Patch.

Positive 5V greetings to everyone .
Inspired to better understand the sound-creating process within synthesizers, I started researching for the basics on how their modules work and the essence behind patching them together.
Long story short, from manuals to tutorials, from audiovisual performances to live sets using eurorack systems, I came across VCV Rack and all the overwhelming world of the modular virtual synthesizer.
After testing and experimenting with some fantastic patches that this community shares, I was motivated to try and build my first project. I wanted to start with something familiar and to understand how it works. The goal was to replicate something that I use on my live audiovisual performances with the artistic duet Mr. Lazy & Mme. Leisure – the Analogue Ribbon Station MONOTRIBE from Korg.
So, this is what I came up with, fully aware that I still have a long way to go to but, it’s a start, to better comprehend the logics and also all the craziness behind the modular word.
The patch is divided in two major sections:
– The drum sound generator with 8-step sequencer for 2xKick, 2xSnare and 2xHi-Hats. Each instrument has two separated rows with on/off switches and the second row of each one adds 8 intermediate steps using a delay attached to create the idea of “contratempo” or the fake feeling of a 16-step sequencer. (As an extra there is a reverb that goes to the Mixer AUX FX that can be assigned to each channel/row individually).
– The synth part is a 16-step sequencer* with 2 extra octave keyboard controllers that are being used to write notes into the sequence. The VCO gives voice the sequence and the VCF cut-off knob affects the brightness of the sound and the resonance will affect the emphasis of the cut-off frequency. The LFO modulates the VCO pitch and the VCF cut-off frequency and it can modulate just the VCO, the VCO+VCF or just the VCF. The EG lets you modulate waveforms that’s applied to the VCA. (As an extra there is a chorus module that goes to the Mixer AUX FX dedicated to the synth part. Also this sequencer* can go up to 4-track with 32-steps each).

Missing:
– the ability to use mouse movement on the keyboard to write notes
– drum roll effect by increasing the number of re-triggers for each step of the drum part that it’s on
– other “features” (maybe in future versions?!)

Feel free to comment and share ideas.
