NINYL VOISE

NINYL VOISE

Rev 1.2 – small UI tweaks.

This is a simple noise generator / glitcher attempting to simulate the noise of a vinyl record.

All the controls you need are on the main UI page.

All the parameters controls are on the edge of the grid. The white pixels in the middle of the grid are for visual feedback only (more about it below).

Parameters on the border of the grid are (from top left corner moving clockwise):

1. Base Noise Uniformity
2. Base Noise Level
3. Base Noise And Pops1 Tone (combined)
4. Pops1 Amount
5. Pops2 Amount
6. Pops2 Tone
7. Mono / Stereo Toggle
8. Master Volume
9. Live Noise vs Looped Balance
10. Loop Pause
11. Loop End Trim
12. REC Loop / Set Loop Tempo
13. Master Resonance
14. Master Tone

Use the “Live Noise vs Looped Balance” parameter (bottom right corner pushbutton) to adjust the balance between the live random noise generated by the patch and a looped one recorded from it. The balance is illustrated by the intensity of the white spinning pixels loop on the left and three lines on the right, each line representing one of the 3 ingredients of the noise: Base Noise, Pops1 and Pops2.

For example, if “Live Noise vs Looped Balance” parameter is set all the way to the right, only live noise will be heard and loop and loop pixels will be inaudible / invisible, if it is set the opposite direction, only looped noise will be audible and white pixels rows on the right will disappear. You can smoothly set an in-between balance (make sure you un-pause the looper and record the first loop from the generated noise by pressing the bottom left corner REC/TEMPO pushbutton (pressing once starts recording, pressing second time ends it/sets loop length and tempo).

IDEAS:

1.When using a looped “broken record” type noise blend it with some “live” generated noise – this will make it sound more like a record which is not stuck but you’ll still hear its rotation.
2. You can loop one set of noise tone settings and mix it with tweaked tone live noise. Master Tone and Presence changes tone of everything globally.
3. The speed of the spinning white pixels is a pretty accurate representation of the loop’s length, but once you change the Loop End Trim its speed will be approximated. The Loop End Trim is useful when trying to match the temp of the loop exactly to other instruments / samples.
