MXR Pitch Transpose M129

Insert Mode Program – Parallel Routing. It would probably sound terrible in Series; certainly not for the squeamish. Programmed for stereo use.

An emulation of a classic blueface rack unit, with a “trigger warning” as its nickname. Not the best by modern standards, but great for its time, and relatively affordable. Its claim to fame included 4 push button rotary pots, which tuned and selected 4 preset pitch shifts. An advantage for ‘playing’ the various transposed pitches.

Two H910 / 949 instances in parallel here. Pitch Controls are set to Chromatic. It would be more historically accurate to change these to Normal, and retune the pitch ratios. Yet there was a companion model with a display, that featured a switch between ratios and half-step increments.

This also uses Type(s) 949-2, for improved splicing / less glitching with larger pitch changes. Much cleaner if set to Modern; much more ‘charm’ when set to the earlier Eventide rack models.

EXP1 increases the staggered time delays by 10X, while also dropping MIX for more dry signal. It also increases the various FEEDBACK levels proportionally, for regenerated ‘barberpole’ pitches.

AUX SW 4 flips around the preset ratios from above input pitch to below input pitch.

The four ‘preset knob’ ratios equivalents are set as follows:
* Knob 1 – m3rds (default base parameters)
* Knob 2 – HS1 4ths
* Knob 3 – HS2 5ths
* Knob 4 – HS3 Octaves

There are also options for (non-latching) 200 mS REPEATS of Preset A / B delay buffers. See the Program Notes for complete information on the PERFORM Switch mappings.
