Mini EMS Synthi / Putney / VC3

A patch very loosely based on the EMS Synthi/Putney/VCS3. I had tried to make a full sized one (like Deev) but I kept losing track of the connections. So here’s a mini version.
1. There are only 2 VCOs (the third VCO is replaced with an LFO). I also used the built in oscillator on the Ring Module, so you only need to have one VCO feed into it.
2. I color coded the main modules and patches for an easier way to track what’s going on (e.g. Noise Vol, Noise Color, Noise module and Noise patch points are all blue).
3. I ended up using a second matrix for the joy stick. On some of the examples, the joy stick (JW Modules XY Pad) is set to auto. On others you need to use the mouse and move it around.
4. If you patch something on the matrix and it doesn’t seem to do anything, check and see if it’s volume control is turned down.
5. I put a compressor and a giant mute button after the mixer. If you mess with noise, filter resonance, ring modulation and FM etc. it can get “squealy” very quickly.

It’s difficult to explain the patch matrix panel, but….
The connections on the left side (the rows) are the “Ins”.
The connections on the bottom are the “outs”.
If you click on “1A”, you make a connection to the envelope. That signal flows down to the bottom and back in on the left side to the “8 Envelope” row.
You can then click on “8D” and this will send it to the Filter. That signal then flows down to the bottom and around to the “7 Filter” row.
You eventually want to get the signal to “O Out Left” and “P Out Right” to get it to the mixer.
The Joy Stick matrix works sort of the same way. You click on which connection you want to send to the X Y axis.
The zip file has 7 example patches.
Anyhow, it’s confusing, but it’s fun to play around with.
