External MIDI Clock Sync Workaround

This is a patch created to provide a sync to an external clock signal. While the MIDI clock signal is not actually used here, it provides the same function as a sync to an external MIDI clock signal.

Audulus does not have a module that will sync to an external MIDI clock but it will accept notes from an external MIDI keyboard or external sequencer. By setting up 1/4 notes on the beat, a clock signal can be generated inside Audulus 4.

The sync signal to restart the step sequencer is generated by the patch looking for a very low note from the MIDI notes in module. Because very low notes are not often played, it works well in this situation.

With Korg Gadget, the velocity that is sent in through what Audulus calls the gate signal is below 1. 1 is also often called HIGH in terms of Boolean math and to get that value to be sent to the gate signal input of the step sequencer, an offset values must be added to the gate/velocity to bring it to 1 or above. See the expression node for this situation.

The value nodes for troubleshooting this patch were left in so that others can see what is going on with the values being taken into Audulus. The synth part of this patch is there so the user can see that the method does work to sync to an external source.
