Meter Maid

Ever wanted to monitor you audio levels? Or perhaps you just want a pedalboard with more flashing lights than a 747. Either way, the Meter Maid patch may just be for you.

The Meter Maid provides simple visual metering of your audio signal, broken down by frequency. On the first page is a grid of pixels: each column representing a frequency band, and each row representing higher decibels. Keep the peaks at or below the yellow to avoid clipping. The frequency bands are centered on 50Hz, 100Hz, 200Hz, 400Hz, 800Hz, 1.6kHz, 3.2kHz, and 6.4kHz.

In the top right hand corner is a pulsing pixel, the rate of which can be controlled by tapping the Select foot switch. It can be used as a simple visual metronome, or just enjoy the calm of the pulsing blue light.

This patch could be handy when you’re shaping your tone, or if you want to monitor your signal while recording. It does not modify your signal. Incidentally, the bandwidths align with the bands of the ever-popular Boss GE-7 Graphic Equalizer, although any graphic or parametric eq could be used with the Meter Maid.
