Two tracks mad frippertronics looper with the ability to randomly play your loop reverse, half speed or double speed.

It is configured to be used this way, but if you set the feedback of loop 2 to 1, you can also use it as a normal two tracks sync looper and even as a serial looper. You can also use more than two loops if you want. There is enough DSP to add one or two effects before the looper, a reverb for exemple.

Unfortunately, you have to select the loop you want to play manualy on the screen.

A : record selected loop

B : overdub selected loop

C : mute / unmute all loops

D : multiply selected loop

E : enables / disables the chaos controller

How I use the frippertronics chaos effect : first record some simple chord progression on your loop 1, with one or two chords and a simple harmony. This will be your backtrack so it really has to be simple because the other track will act randomly. Then record a first little solo phrase on loop 2, launch the overdub, and activate the chaos controller. You can now go on soloing while the synchronized chaos randomly repeats reverse, half speed or double speed your phrases. By default, feedback of loop 2 is set to 0,75 to let your repeated phrases fade out. You can also edit the parameters of the chaos controller to have a more spectacularly random effect. By default it is set to act “softly”.

How I also use it as a serial looper (but I admit it not very easy…) : first don’t forget to set back the feedback of loop 2 on 1. Then select loop 1 and record it as you want. Before the cycle of loop 1 gets over, press C, and then, before it’ll mute at the end of the cycle, select loop 2. Now, press record just at the end of loop 1 (you have to be very precise here), record it (it is synchronized to be a multiple of loop 1’s length), overdub it as you want. It’s not easy but with a little practice it is possible. When both loops are recorded, just press C and wait the end of the cycle to pass from one loop to the other.
