Analog style delay with vibrato modulation inspired by EHX’s Deluxe Memory Man.
For BBD delay, the LVX’s main “mod” control produces more of a stereo chorus effect. The “chorus” modulation can get somewhat close to vibrato, but it just doesn’t sound like a real analog delay w/ vibrato.
One approach is to use an LFO on the delay time, but this comes with glitchy artifacts as the tempo changes. It’s a cool sound, but it’s not a DMM.
So what’s the answer?
1. Start with a BBD delay, mod at 0%, no other modulation
2. Add a Comb Filter, set the Resonance to 0%, Depth to 0ms, and Level to 0db
3. Assign the LFO modifier to the Filter Depth
4. Adjust LFO speed and min/max to taste for vibrato speed and depth
A huge THANK YOU to Logan from Meris’s tech support for this tip about the comb filter — I had no idea it could do this.
This patch also includes a compressor and a preamp to sound a bit like the delay going into the front of an overdriven amp.
