An implementation of a classic modular technique for producing cyclic melodic patterns using two synced LFOs and S&H (inspired by the Muffwigler’s The Book of Bad Ideas V.2@1.22).
The patch offers three ways of mixing the LFOs (add, mix with amplitude control for each one, and Linear frequency modulation). The combined wave can be later folded for more asymmetrical patterns and mixed with a third unsynced LFO for regular variation, and with a random generator for randomized variation. Range and Register adjust amplitude and offset for finer control of the resulting melody. A gate-velocity sequencer activates a S&H to obtain a pitch value for each note (set to 16ths). The quantizer section has three options: off, quantize, and switch between two different scales; the rate of switching can be adjusted and is by default synced to the main clock. The MIDI section contains a MIDI chance and humanizer.
The idea is to provide aleatory melodic patterns that can repeat cyclically, vary progressively, or be completely randomized, that is, from completely predictable to fully unpredictable.
This seems really interesting, but I can’t figure out how to connect it to a synth?
Got it working, very cool patch – thanks for sharing!
just wanted to say thank you for making and sharing this. It’s really helped me.
