A Drambo tool to measure the latency of audio signal paths.
Like a real echo sounder Latency Sonar sends out short audio signals and assists in measuring the time it takes for the echo (received signal) to arrive.
The measurement is done by delaying the reference signal (TX) to a point were this TX pulse and the received pulse RX overlap. Now the set delay is the equivalent to the delay of the audio signal path.
There are two ways to analyse the time difference of the two signals:
– an oscilloscope that shows both signals on the same trace. Markers at specific intervals can be added through an additional marker oscillator.
– the human ear. The TX signal is sent to the left ear and the RX to the right. Now the delay can be adjusted until the signal appears to come from the center.
