4MS Metamodule patch.
This is my take on the classic Krell patch, as created by Todd Barton on the Buchla 200e, and supposedly representing the music of the ancient Krell race in the 1959 movie ‘Forbidden Planet’. The main problem I encountered was finding a CPU friendly stereo reverb that kept the Metamodule’s CPU usage under 100%. The luscious Plateau was a big fail. Using the economical Airwindows Verbity, the usage maxes at about 83%. To set the patch going, just turn the Triggers knob in the first knob set; an actual button would be a lot more elegant. With the melodic minor scale and Rampage ranges set to slow, the slowly evolving soundscape is at times reminiscent of Gustav Holst’s ‘Neptune’. It’s amazing what a single VCO can do.
