This patch was inspired by the EarthQuaker Devices Data Corruptor pedal. The pedal produces some crazy sounds and can be unpredictable if you are expecting smooth sounds.

I made a patch that tried get close to the sound using pitch shifting on the Empress Zoia. That patch sounds pretty good but is not glitchy like the Data Corruptor.

Well, miRack has a PLL module made by Frozen Wasteland and it can be unpredictable like the original Data Corruptor. I have found using the PLL’s LPF Out instead of the Main Out produces a much more pleasing sound. And the PLL allows for more precise control over the oscillator that is compared to the input signal by allowing for an external waveform. To get precise control I used the chromatic scale with CV by using intervals of 1/12. I also used octaves.

Have a good look at how the Const Add Mult modules are connected to the sequential switches. There is no 12 position sequential switch so where appropriate the first sequential switch feeds into the next sequential switch. I also allow for octaves to be used along with the chromatic scale.

A sub-oscillator was added simply by taking the chromatic scale/octaves section and multiplying the result by -1.

This version goes beyond the Data Corruptor by having 4 notes instead of 3.

This version does not have a glide or vibrato but that might show up in a later version.

The iPad is great for working on these patches and I often use a sampler/sample playing module to work on ideas instead of setting up my guitar to be used with an audio interface.

One more thing – I have found miRack patches close and default to a template when I open patches made outside of Loopy Pro. I’d this happens to you, I recommend building your patches inside of Loopy Pro.
