A simple stereo patch that shows how it’s possible to use any external VST plugin within the Grid just like an hypothetical future VST external plugin module within the Grid with ins and outs would work. I call this “the DC Offset trick”, that I got from Taches Teaches. Essentially the chain is like this: Grid → Modulator Out (Grid module) → DC Offset (Bitwig utility)→ VST → Audio Sidechain (Grid module) → Grid
The Patch uses a Memory Man delay plugin from MixWave which sounds absolutely wonderful just like the original EHX Deluxe Memory Man. In my case I used the patch to prolong the delay time to possible 19 seconds rather than the original 3s and keep the warmth and quirkiness of the Memory Man after long delay time. I made this patch for Frippertronics music and that warmth and quirkiness makes wonderful soundscapes.
Please note, very likely you don’t have the MixWave Memory Man plugin, just replace it with any analog sounding nice plugin. The patch still works for Frippertronics music, you can stop the feedback and play over the background repeating delay without adding layers to the loop.
