I didn’t originally intend to release this one, but some other folks have expressed interest when they’ve heard it.
Forest Chords is a completely automated soundscape that represents the feel and sounds that I experience when sitting next to a forest in the dark at night. I’m missing a good chunk of hearing, especially in my left ear, and my tinnitus starts playing in and out of my awareness. I hear some sounds, and my mind fills in others… I can’t quite keep them apart. My attention flows between different sounds and notes. It’s a mix between creepy and awesome.
Functionally, this is several oscillators and a noise source being tuned and modulated with unpredictable jitter and slow movement, all coming in and out and moving around. It’s a pretty simple idea that just took time for me to tune into the right feel.
