My goal for this patch was a programmable pattern delay that can add some rhythmic variety and/or ambiguity via both a) irregular repeats/feedback *times* and b) irregular repeat/feedback *levels*. This does both. Additionally, it allows for randomization of the repeat/feedback levels, which can create even more rhythmic variety/ambiguity.

There are 16, 8 second delay lines, each with its own time adjustment relative to global clock (control page 1) and its own level adjustment (control page 2). Changing the individual delay times can get you everything from a basic delay with up to 16 repeats, to 32nd note rolls, to polyrhythmic repeats, to Euclidean-based repeats, completely unrelated times by just randomly spinning the encoder on each line’s time & level adjustments… So much potential.

There is no traditional “feedback” like you’d find on a normal delay, but by adjusting the levels of each the active delay lines, you can get everything from a normal gradually fading series of repeats, to irregularly syncopated repeats. And by randomizing the levels of the active delay lines (toggle, page 1), each series of repeats will be unique.

Control page 1:
Rows 1 & 4 = Enable/Disable each of the 16 delay lines
Rows 2 & 5 = individual delay *time* adjustment for each delay line. What you’re changing here is the connection strength of the global clock to delay line. 1 = 100%, .5 = 50%, etc. So where global clock is set at “1 second”, dialing in a delay line to 0.50 would yield a 500ms delay time for that particular line
Row 3, column #s from left to right = 1) global clock, 3) dry-wet, 4) random level on/off toggle, 5 & 6) clock multiplier & divider (from 2X to 8X global clock), 8) tempo indicator

Control page 2:
Rows 1 & 4 = delay line ACTIVE indicators
Rows 2 & 5 = individual delay *level* adjustment. Think of these as “feedback repeat variability”.
Row 3, columns 1 & 8 = tempo indicators

Demo: Just a simple groove using the patch as saved/uploaded. This “preset” is based on a “baker’s dozen” subdivision of the global clock, i.e. “13ths”… i.e. “tredecuplets”, lol. Levels for the active lines are randomized. As always, apologies for the fake drums. ☹

Have fun!!
