Either.or – Morphing Looper

Lastly, you get Either.Or. It’s not grid based! It’s a morphing sampler. You get two independent loopers, assigned to the left and middle footswitches, but there’s a catch! the patch will only play one of them, either the louder or the quieter of the two at any given moment.

Since this can be quite jarring, you get some lag (the comparator tracks slower, longer changes) and fade (the loops swell in and out) controls. You can also add a delay between the envelope and the audio path, so they get out of sync and do weird sidechaining.

You can change the playback rate of one of the loopers with a MIDI keyboard. You can assign your MIDI notes to either of the loopers with the blue pushbutton on page 0. Aftertouch will make both looper bend down a bit.

The mod wheel controls the mix of a diffuser module that is effecting the loop that isn’t being played through the “main” output, making for some more textures. The diffuser can also be controlled by the white value module on page 0.

Both loopers can be played in reverse, with the White and Magenta pushbuttons on the top right of page 0.

You can see green and red indicators to quickly see which loops is active, and pre-fade gain controls for each loop to balance things out.

There’s kind of a lot happening, and it’s not the cleanest patch I’ve made, but I thought it sounded amazing and I was quite proud of it!
