Recreation of the Binson Echorec in Zoia (based on Firmware ver 2.70). As I do not own a Echorec the recreation is entirely based on descriptions or construction plan found on the internet.
Updates in v2:
> Tap Tempo via “Select” footswith, MIDI Clock or pushbutton on “ctrl” page
> Routing improvements (lower CPU usage)
> New feature: “Dirt”
How to use:
All relevant controls can be found on the first page (ctrl). The buttons have the following functions:
> The pink button enables “Performance Mode”
> Use the red button (TAP) or the “Select” footswitch to set the tempo, the yellow next to it just works as a beat indicator.
> The dark blue buttons (DELAY) control the overall volume of the delayed signal.
> The bright blue buttons (SWELL) control the feedback from the heads back into the recording head. With swell set to zero – one will hear only the 4 initial repeats of the signal.
> Use the purple button (MOD) to turn on/off modulation and MOD WIDTH to set the modulation amount.
> The orange buttons control the Dirt: turn on/off with the left button and set the level with the other.
> The four green buttons (head 1-4) one can turn the different read heads on or off.
> Use the left in/outs
Please note: Tap the tempo in quarters, then the 4 heads will provide the following delay times:
Head 1: 1/16
Head 2: 1/8
Head 3: dotted 1/8
Head 4: 1/4
Please play around with the heads, the rhythmic patterns you will get are inspiring.
Note: if MIDI Clock creates problems, just delete the blue button on the “tap divider” page. :-)
ENJOY
Feedback welcome!
Love this – simple control mechanism and very nice binson-like sound. It’s great!
