Drum machine with preset rhythms for each drum to mix and match. Press Shift button to start and stop. For funsies you can experiment by twisting knobs and hitting keys at random. This patch is based on the patch of the same name for the Organelle.
To get deeper into it: Tempo knob sets tempo, knobs 2, 3 and 4 select independent rhythms for kick, snare and percussion. Rhythms get more complex as you turn the knobs to the right. Turn a knob all the way left to mute any drum. Lower six “white” notes select kicks, upper six pick snares. First five “black” keys select percussion (hi hats and stuff).
The rightmost “black” key plays a snare fill when you hold it down. The two “black” keys to the left of it toggle to add a dotted quarter note delay to the kick and snare drums, respectively.
The drums are also output as MIDI notes 36, 38 and 42 on MIDI channel 10.
fun patch! very quick to have a fun beat and do fills. Would be fun to have a “swing” option to mess with the rhythm, maybe a shift+knob 1 control. Thanks for making the patch!
Great rhythms and sounds! Any chance of adding MIDI clock?
I’ve added beat clock in and out capability. The clock outs occur when the shift key is engaged. When the shift key is pressed again the internal clock stops and the drum machine will respond to external beat clock. I’m not a brilliant programmer and there are still some persistent bugs I’m too dumb to fix, but it should sync up to your DAW and other machines now.
I’ve thought about adding a swing option. The sixteenths could swing but it wouldn’t affect the slower rhythms, and swinging the eight notes wouldn’t work with the notes on the sixteenth grid, if you know what I mean. Not sure what the best solution is, but I’m still tinkering.
