DaveVenom Grendel – VCP 69

As I started messing around with the module, the sound got harsher and uglier and more apocalyptic by the minute. I thought I was going to have to start over. But then I read Gretchen’s write up that mentioned a monster. I was clueless, so I looked it up and realized – “Oh – so I guess this works after all!”

All the sound, CV, and timing comes from 3 grendel modules. The notes are all derived from one LFO of one module providing a saw tooth signal that goes through a Bogaudio VCF in low pass mode, and then multiple waveshapers and distortion units to provide an ominous bass drone. The clean sound is also fed polyphonically into a Bogaudio VCF in band pass mode with other LFO’s driving the V/Oct cutoff to pick off individual harmonics, and those sine tones in turn are uglified nicely by another Wolv. Lots of LFO CV to modulate itself, as well as the sound processers. Also one LFO to drive a Count Modula Chances to determine when to mute the bass drone. Some delay and reverb to polish it off.

Most of the LFOs are all in free mode. But I did use two LFOs from one module in Quad mode to modulate the drone volume in stereo with the left and right 180 out of phase.
