A simple ambient patch featuring the Geodesics Dark Energy complex oscillator with FM and ring modulation, as well as the Dawsome Love ambient FX plugin.

For the Love settings I started with the default Dawsome Lovely preset and reduced the Shimmer to ~5% (nearly off), the Delay to ~60%, and the Clouds to ~40%.

Substitute your favorite stereo ambient FX modules if you don’t have Love and/or VCV Host FX. Patch the left and right filter output to your effects, and then to the audio.

I make a few minor setting adjustments at a few points in the video:

– Act 1: Both Proteus scales are pentatonic minor, and the Dark Energy M mode is default, and C mode is LFO, giving fairly pure tones.
– Act 2: M mode is LFO and C mode is default
– Act 3: Both M and C modes are default, giving a more complex and dark ring modulated sound.
– Act 4: Switch both Proteus scales to harmonic minor, giving the darkest sound of the piece.
– Act 5: Switch M mode to LFO, lightening the mood again.
– Act 6: Switch M mode to default and C mode to LFO.
