Complex times

-This is a Zebu patch, it won’t work on Zoia, unfortunately, nor will it make sound or works as an audio effect-

Complex times will output complex modulations and surprising gates to your synths/eurorack system out of a single clock.

The explanation below will probably look tedious, I made my best to label everything relatively clearly and and give visual feedback on the control page to help you!

It works by sending the incoming clock (CV input 1) to 4 clock dividers (on page 2) that will set the rate of 4 LFOs that will get multiplied and compared. By setting different clock divisions, you will get more or less complex CV outputs and gates.

The resulting CV and gates will be outputed to the CV outs in this order CV 1, Gate 1, CV2 and Gate 2

The control page is fairly dense, i’ll explain the controls by vertical row.

1st row:

There are 4 pushbutton that let you choose the waveform of the corresponding LFO (sine, triangle, ramp ans sawtooth). You will have a visual feedback of the LFO rate and shape on the button next to it on 2nd row.

The last button is a phase reset for all clock dividers, in case you need it.

3rd row:

The first two buttons are pushbuttons and let you choose one of the 4 LFO that will be multiplied together to create complex LFO.
Next to the button on row 4, you will see the Pixel blinking according to the LFO rate and shape.
The resulting complex LFO will be displayed on row 5, first button.

The next two buttons are pushbutton and let you choose one of the 4 LFO that will be compared one against the other together to create gates.
Next to the button on row 4, you will see the Pixel blinking according to the LFO rate and shape.
The resulting gates will be displayed on row 5, 4th button.

The 6th 7th and 8 rows mimic the fonctions and display of rows 3-4-5.

There are five buttons on the last horizontal row.

You have an attenuator for CV 1 (white button) you can also invert the shape of CV 1 output (pink button, just over CV out 1).

Then there’s an invert gate pushbutton (purple) that let you invert the gate pattern without having to change the LFO that are compared.

Finally there and attenuator for CV 2 (red) and and gate pushbutton (purple) that let you invert the gate pattern for gate 2 out.

I hope it makes sense! Have fun!
