Chord Buddy

Selectable Chord Generator for External Instruments

As I was making my Shruti Lite patch, I had an idea to be able to select chords to drone while practicing/performing, and after doing some PatchStorage research and some brainstorming of what I wanted out of such a patch, the Chord Buddy was born!

NOTE: Sustain pedal required!

Each foot switch selects a bank of five chord qualities each, grouped in Major, minor, and dominant/sus categories. There are also toggles for which octave the sustained chord and/or root is in, as well as a pedal-reverse mode.

To play a chord: select the chord quality you want with the foot switches and buttons, play a note you want to be the root on your instrument, and hold down the sustain; three easy steps! In drone mode, the sustain pedal works in the opposite direction; hold down the pedal to pause the chord and select a new root/chord.

This is fantastic. Great work. It must have taken ages.
How do I get my expression pedal to work if it’s connected to my Morningstar mc6 and my Zoia is also connected to my mc6?
(I have not been able to use my expression with my Zoia through my midi controller).

Hey there, glad you like the patch!
To answer your question, I designed the patch for an on/off momentary sustain pedal plugged into the control port of ZOIA. If you’re trying to use an incoming signal through MIDI, I don’t have any MIDI implementation set up with this patch (could be an interesting idea for a future update tho!), so nothing will work in that regard.

Do whatever you want with it, but it'd be cool if you shared with me what you do if anything!
