Beat Box twisted take on the wonderful ACME Beat Machine…
Original patch by @callmesam is here
https://patchstorage.com/16-step-drum-sequencer/
All the basics are the same but I’ve put these things in:
– Read patterns from text file (see below)
– Change the sequence length on the fly
– Pitch shifting FX with mix, pitch, window, feedback and delay for wild, wild sounds
To get all these features I had to change some of the controls. It follows the basic idea of the original, that you hold down a key to get a function, then twiddle Knob 4 to change it’s value.
Many of the keys are the same e.g. Knob 1: tempo, Knob 2: select a drum Knob 3: Move the line indicator. C,D,E,F toggle a hit on/off etc.
The changes are:
(First Octave Keys…)
G – Select a pattern number
A – Change the sequence length 1-16 steps
Bb – Pitch Shift mix %
(Second Octave Keys…)
C – Pitch up/down amount in semitones
D – Pitch shift feedback %
E – Pitch shift window ms
F – Pitch shift delay ms
Top Bb – Select the drum machine type
Licensing: As with the original: Please be aware that the TR 707 and LinnDrum LM1 samples are used by permission of Alex Ball and may be used freely as long you don’t redistribute them. I asked Alex’s permission to distribute this new patch.
Pattern Files
==========
Very simple, the patterns folder contains files called 1.txt, 2.txt and the format is below. I bet you clever people can work that out :) Use the Organelle’s web page server to download, edit and upload your own.
To load a pattern, hold the lower G key, twist Knob 4 to select a number, it loads when you release the key.
(It lines up better in monospace text)
